Wren Sent

Meet Alison, the creator of Wren Sent.

Alison Rose, founder of Wren Sent, at her desk

Hi, I'm Alison Rose.

I have run two versions of the same business for years. In one, I design brands and websites, build client portals, and fuss over the last five percent that nobody notices until it is missing. In the other, I read cards for self-employed women who are working out what to do next.

Both are real, both are mine, and they have been running side by side for over a decade.

The difference between them was the tech.

What one industry saw as the bare minimum, the other treats as luxury.

On the web side, a client portal is table stakes. Onboarding is designed. There is a place where things live, a place where things arrive, and somebody has thought carefully about how it feels to open them. Expectations are high and the tools have caught up to them.

I went looking for the equivalent on the reading side and found an email, a Google Doc, a Dropbox link, and a few card photos attached at the bottom.

That was the standard. Every reader I knew was doing the same thing, and doing it carefully. All of the craft was in the reading. Everything after the reading was improvised.

I felt the experience of being a client, and noticed how much was lacking.

I am a huge fan of noticing. It is most of what I do with a deck.

So when the next reading I ordered landed in my own inbox as a doc, a link and three loose images, I paid attention to how it felt. An hour of somebody's care, arriving like an invoice.

That is where Wren Sent started. The receiving end, rather than the sending end.

An hour of somebody's care, energy and intuition… arriving like an invoice.

I built the thing, I use the thing.

I have been designing brands and websites for decades, and reading cards inside my business for more than ten years. Standing in both is what let me see the gap. The expectations that exist in one of my worlds simply had not been built yet in the other.

I am an indie dev, which means I write the code, design the screens, answer the emails, and ship the fixes myself. Every guidance session and reading I send goes out through Wren Sent, so when something is clumsy, I feel it before you do.

A person receiving a reading should get the same considered arrival as a person receiving a website. That is the entire idea.

How I read, and why the software works this way

My favorite deck is the Fountain Tarot, though like every reader I know, I have a shelf.

I like reading live so I can ask what you notice, what you see, what your eye keeps returning to. I use traditional card meanings as a way in, so your own voice gets louder than mine. The reading belongs to the person in front of me. I am a spiritual atheist, which mostly means I lean on these tools and on my own intuition regardless of what I believe about where any of it comes from.

That shows up in the product more than anywhere else:

  • Your name at the top of the page. Your colors, your words, your work.
  • Wren Sent hands your client your reading and steps back.
  • It never interprets a card and it never writes a reading. The only place AI appears is Ask Wren, the help assistant, and it has no access to your readings at all.

Send something meaningful

Your first three readings are free every month, for as long as you want them.

Record it however you already record it. Add the card photos, a note, the audio. Send one link, and let your client open something that matches the care you put into the reading itself.
